Rebuilding FD transmission with FC internals?

So, can I rebuild the FD transmission using the internals from a spare S5 TII transmission I have?

Advantages?

Disadvantages?

3rd gen Type R has the double syncros, but seems weaker than the 2nd gen Type R and harder to shift anyways.

there are a lot of little differences between series of transmissions, I doubt everything would work. When I got my 87 transmission rebuilt the shop had a hard time finding the 5th gear synchro because everything listed in OEM and aftermarket catalogs was for an 87 1/2 - 88.
