All I can say is wow! A lot of money right there! I wish I had that budget.

It helps if you do the rebuild yourself. I still have a long way to go after the twin turbo set up is done. I still have to get new suspension, wheels, electronics, have the interior restored(going to have it look like the Spirit R model).

Here are some pictures of the rebuild. I just finished it yesterday. Now I need to take it down to San Diego to have my custom twin turbo kit built once the longblock is assembled. Pictures of custom twin turbo set up should be up in two weeks.

I never could get the Flex-a-Lite shroud to fit well on my Koyo. Better luck with the Fluidyne. Ended up having to hack it so badly to fit it was no where near an air tight fit. Went another route.

No updates yet. Taking it down to my friend's shop this week to get the twin turbo set up built. Once that is done, they're going to get the measurements for the twin core v-mount and give me the dimensions so I can order the cores. Oh yeah, in the meantime, they're going to put in an 8 point chromoly roll cage. After the twin turbo set up and intercooler gets fabricated, I need to get a fuel system and engine management. Once that is done, I just need the suspension and brakes.

Keep us posted - I'm in the same boat with twin gt30's on the way.

I'll definitely get pictures of the fabrication and keep you posted.

What shop are you taking it to?

Revd Up Kustomz

I reccomend 2 flow-through design (like any JDM performance cat-back has) for your dual.... magna flows weigh a f**k load, and arent that efficient. better performance, not to mention the cost savings.
gl with build, I wish you lived near me so i could see :P

Is the red FD at red up custumz yours? I talked to Keith and he told me they were doing a twin turbo setup. :)

spiritrmazda 08-09-07 09:20 PM

Yeah, it's mine. I just need to find out how I'm going to get the engine down there. I hurt myself last time I dead lifted my shortblock into my car :)

David Hayes 08-09-07 09:58 PM

^So I have to ask - short block, longblock? I'm assuming a short block is the two rotor housings and the center plate but nothing else? Longblock, everything together? Stupid noobie questions:)

GoodfellaFD3S 08-09-07 11:08 PM

Shortblock is the complete engine assembled----all three irons, both rotor housings and rotors, eshaft, both stat gears. usually the oil pan is included as well as the flywheel and main crank pulleys.

spiritrmazda 08-09-07 11:11 PM

I know, I was in a hurry and uploaded a few pictures that day. They have my long block parts which they'll put back on.

So what is a longblock then (says the guy with a 3 rotor:))?

Juan 08-11-07 02:15 PM

Long block is pretty much a complete engine (manifolds, accessories, yada yada).

spiritrmazda 08-20-07 08:36 AM

Just dropped off the engine at the shop yesterday, hopefully there will be some pictures this weekend when I go drop off more parts. I can't wait to see the manifold and turbos mounted on :)
