Rear end is shot (ring and pinion)
I'm looking for suggestions. I can get a lightly used one off the forum, assymbled. I can get a used set of gears for about 75-100 bucks and have them installed. Or should I search for 4.30's instead of the stock 4.10's? I'm in unfamiliar territory with this deal and looking for some ideas/help!
TIA

Ouch, guess you found your noise. On the cheap I would lean towards buying an entire diff (gears and case) as this will save you from having to have the new gears properly shimmed and installed if using your own case. Putting in diff gears is not plug and play so to speak, they have to be setup for the case itself to keep the mesh correct.

I'm getting a case from Mazda Recyling... 400 bucks shipped w/ a 6 month warranty. Seemed like a good deal to me. I know pulling the case apart and doing the rear end would be to big of a job for me. It is coming w/ the green sub-axles (?) attched.
I'm looking for a couple of answers to help me get this thing in and out quickly...
1. When I go to remove my axles I know I need to remove the nut from the end of the shaft. But how do I get the clip out and is there anything I need to make sure is aligned properly to complete the reinstallation properly?
2. When pulling the driveshaft do I need to mark it to help realign it?
3. Is there any seals I need to replace on the rear end when I get it? i.e. oil side seals and such?
4. What else should I expect to run into while doing this?
thanks for any help (this will be my first time doing this!)

I did this project about 2 years ago.You shouldn't need to remove the clips at the end of the axles shafts. Just take a screwdriver to pry the axles out. There should be enough play. If the differential case they're sending you is new, the seals should've been replaced. It helps to realign the driveshaft, but not really necessary, I didn't. Just mark it on the differential, and then on the driveshaft. And the differential is amazing heavy when you take it out or put it back in. Don't think I'd ever do it again.
