reading the turbo gauge?

Just wondering... if its normal for my boost gauge to read -20 when im off the gas? goes up to +10 when im on the gas, and the water temp to read 106 degrees when i start the car, it cools down after a while, but is it normal stuff?

think so...i have a shitty autometer gauge..but mine reads 20 also...and i read that they have a habbit of reading +2psi or so..i think. that sounds normal and the +10 is normal. IIRC 10 from inital boost to 4000, then from there to 4400 drops to 8 for prespool and then back to 10 to readline..im still new as well but i think thats right...someone please correct me if im wrong on the rpms. hope that helps...

the boost seems normal, dont think a 106 degrees when you first start the engine is normal though, are you talking about after driving around for a while it goes up to 106 degrees and THEN drops? or are you saying that when you first turn the car on its on 106?

yes the -20 is reading the vaccume level at idle. That is pretty much what you want to see in terms of vaccume at idle. Im not sure what your talking about as far as the temp gauge. If the car is completly cold and reads 106 degrees when you first start it, then it sounds like you have an issue with the gauge.

-20 is not necessarily the vacuum at idle, it could be the vacuum while engine braking. The "vacuum" reading of the engine should be done in neutral, so that the engine is completely without load.

Yes, 10(psi) is the correct pressure in boost. Under full throttle, it should hold nearly 10psi all the way up to redline, with only a quick dip around 4500rpm. A little loss of boost at the very top end is considered normal.

If you drive your car and shut it down, then come back 10-20 minutes later to drive it, your gauge could easily read 106c. It it reads 106 when cold, you need a new gauge or sender.
