NOTE: This is not directed towards any specific individual, BUT it is important.
In response to the fabrication of parts, like the Mazdaspeed tranny support brace. I just wanted to ask, assuming that you were planning to help your fellow forum members by fabricating something (like the Mazdaspeed tranny support brace), are steps being taken to ensure that the product will hold up to the abuse of some of our more extreme drivers. Don't get me wrong, but my concern here is safety for all our fellow rx-7 enthusiasts. Different people have different driving habits and while others viewed as being "light" on our cars...others are obviously "extreme". Jimlab has posted that he may take very well care of his cars, but the cars do take a good beating.
Not all products will need as much "safety testing" like a carbon fiber hood, as compared to say a tranny brace or a control arm. I just want people to be aware that should they choose to produce a product, please ensure that you have taken the time to possibly test your product to ensure that it will hold up in real life scenarios. I for one, would hate to hear about an accident situation involving a product that was produced for we, the enthusiast. Lawsuits in a situation like this would suck, and if you think that should something occur...that you will not sue the designer. Think again. It is not entirely up to you in regards to who you will sue. Lawyers will sue everyone that was involved because they want to get all the money they can. This is how they cover their ***. There are numerous people named on cases regarding lawsuits.
Think about Ford, Firestone, and the whole rollover incidents. Ford and Firestone were both named in the lawsuit.
I'm not criticizing anyone in regards to their designs or anything. I just hope that should you decide to design a part (and have someone else fabricate it) or if you are going to fabricate the part, please make sure that you have tested your product to be sound.
