The antenna mast is likely broken. You will need to replace it. You have to pull the assembly to put a new antenna mast in.

The toothed plastic that makes the antenna go up and down breaks. You can get a new mast with the toothed plastic from Ray Crowe. Easy fix, remove unit from rear deck, open, remove broken cord and reinstall.

Go to Rob Robinetts how to page. It has details on how to replace just the mast or the whole attenna. I did it with a cheap replacement from autozone. Not an exact fit but I mangaged to make it work without shooting the darn thing out when it extended. Here is the link

If you get it from Ray Crowe, you don't need any numbers, just tell him the year and what you need.

But the Part # for a 93 is: 0000-81-A902 Antenna, mast

I went with a cheap ebay replacement. It was 1/4 inch too tall when retracted. I later bought the OEM mazda part and it fit perfectly. You get what you pay for.
