That Radiator question again

Have got a 95 Automatic, need to upgrade the radiator and had made my selection when I read a previous thread. Can anyone suggest the radiator to go with automatic?

I believe the only upgrade all aluminum radiator that is available for the autos is the AWR/Ron Davis radiator.

I wonder if that one is THIS radiator mentioned briefly here in an excerpt from the following SPORTS COMPACT CAR article:

Later, Anthony Woodford of AWR installed a large-capacity radiator from Mazda Competition.
This exquisite, all-aluminum radiator offers nearly 50 percent more capacity than the ineffective stock unit.

I am a bit sticker shocked by the $550 price though.......

you can go with the fluidyne radiator for the man trans car and re route the auto trans lines back to the trans cooler. easy to do and you will not have any problems. I have an auto and mine works fine.

I did the same exact thing and suffered no ill effects. My transmission later failed but it was due to power output and not cooling.

The 'cooler' that is IN the radiator anyways doesnt really assist as it is more than likely that the radiator temps are higher than the transmission temps... the transmission also already has a dedicated cooler in the R1 oil cooler slot. The great thing is when you convert to 5spd (if you ever do) you can get some adapters and use the auto trans. cooler as a second oil cooler.

I used the Koyo unit and was very happy, alternatives are the Fluidyne and Mazdaspeed (MS is overpriced and not as effective as the other uniits).
