Radiator mounting with FMIC
I'm in the process of putting a new intercooler in my car. Smic. I was thinking of ways to fabricate new ducting and places where I could get sheet metal..then I thought of this... What If I were to just mount a fan to the intercooler and have it so it is always running. Would that actually work or do you all think that's a stupid idea. Maybe it won't be effective because it is blowing warm/hit air across the intercooler from all thee heat radiating in the engine bay? What do y'all think

get a proper duct. even if you have the fan running constantly, assuming you still have the radiator in the stock location, you will still get heat soak from the radiator. a proper duct will draw in it's own fresh, cool air separate from that going to the radiator

Also, a fan actually blocks a lot of the airflow out of the intercooler.
You need cool, outside air forced through the intercooler. Blowing hot engine bay air around the IC won't cut it.
Some guys have added fans to SMIC's with ducts to provide more cooling at low speed or a cooldown at an autocross event or the like.
