Radiator Fan(s)
Radiator Fan(s)
Apologies in advance if this has been addressed elsewhere - if so, just send me the link.
I'm rebuilding a 93 touring with Rx6 single turbo kit. Just removed the radiator and fans, and it seems that the bearings are gone on one of the two puller fans (shown in link below).

Any suggestions on whether or not I should repair and re-use these fans or where to look for better options? The radiator will be positioned behind the intercooler and the A/C so I'll some pretty good air flow.
Thanks,
Aaron

OEM is best, the aftermarket fans are all junk. FC guys have been learning this for years the hard way. There are some decent OEM fans from other manufacturers, in fact I think the Ford SHO Taurus fans were popular. But I would just stick to OEM. This topic has been beaten to death many times.
But it breaks down like this: If you find a fan that has higher flow than the OE ones, it's inefficient and will suck too much juice to that point that your headlights are dimming. If they draw the same power as stock they won't blow enough air. The stock ones are like whirlwind when they turn on. The trick is just getting them to turn on at the proper temperature, and there's a few threads about upgrading the thermoswitch to turn on at a reasonable temperature. The stock thermoswitch was wired to turn on pretty late so that the engine could run hotter and pass emissions standards, but there was a recall to fix it. The recall made it so that the fans would turn on earlier and run after the car was turned off. But you can put on the FC thermoswitch and fix the problem, or hard wire the fans.

Thanks for the info guys - anyone have stock radiator fan(s) for sale? BTW - Dale, I recognize your name from the teamfc3s listserve days...I sold my 2nd gen 10 years ago and you were dispensing useful advice back then. Lucky for me, some things just don't change.
