Radiator Drain Plug
Radiator Drain Plug
I getting tired of stripping the thread on the plastic drain plug, is it possible to use another material for the plug. (ie. stainless bolt) The radiator is a Koyo. Any problems with the bolt siezing on the radiator. Also is the size 10x1.25?
i was thinking one time of using a reg bolt with a rubber washer and teflon tape on the threads. it should hold up against the heat and pressure
just a thought...i never tested it

Yeah, my aluminum drain plug on the Koyo radiator stripped. So I used a regular pipe tap on the radiator.
Pipe taps are actually threaded to induce compression and seals it better than regular bolt thread patterns. I got a plastic pipe fitting from a hard ware store (forgot what size).
Then used the yellow teflon tape for gas fittings around the fitting. It works fine, no leaks and if its strips, just get another cheap one from the store. At least the radiator side won't strip, much harder to fix that way.
