radiator cap

the rubber lining under my radiator cap is looking worn out .. would that cause my coolant water levels to drop? would heated coolant evaporate and just escape?

Yes, it would allow coolant to escape when under pressure.

Not evaporated, but atomized by the heat and escape through any opening.
