Racing Beat Wing Problem

Ok.. Not really a problem with the wing. It's just heavy and the hatch won't stay up. Can OEM struts hold this thing up or am I going to have to live with this mobile guillotine?
Thanks,
Don.

i would say go to autozone with one and see if they couldn't closely match it with a heavier duty strut, say from a minivan or suv tailgate.

I'm not really inclined to spend more money experimenting right now. The car already has 2 new OEM struts on it, and they won't hold the wing. Is this typical, or did I get bad struts?
Thanks,
Don.

You might have gotten OEM struts for a base or touring model, I think there's a different part number for R1 struts because the R1 came with a wing, you might see f the dealership or wherever you got the replacements has a different type. I've got a touring with a RB wing and my stock struts hold up the hatch but won't push the hatch up or anything.

You have the Type 2, don't you? I have the exact same problem with mine. My head or shoulders usually end up holding up the hatch while I get something out. I am not sure bout the struts though, my touring came with the factory option rear spoiler, but they are no match for this wing. The stock spoiler weighs nothing though.

Good luck. While it is on my mind, maybe I will try to find a solution too. I usually only get in my hatch maybe once a week though, so it isn't that bad for me, but I will surely follow this thread.

Not the biggest problem.. not like you're unloading groceries.
But I could see getting the spare tire tools out being a problem.
