Racing Beat Duct install help!! (pics)

Oh man, Homestead just killed direct image links tonight like geoshitties! Please click on the links and suggest help for installing the RB duct and relocating the fusebox, please?? And what secures the upper and lower airbox lids on the left sides?

Wink

From the position the relay box is in, in duct 1 photo, twist the relay box 180 degrees and mount bottom down. The plasic bracket, now on your left, is to be slipped in between the air box and RB's duct. Purchase a metal link at you local hardware store or car stereo store. Connect the right front screw of the air box to the portion of the plastic bracket that is now facing up parallel to the ground using this link. Bend the metal bracket straight and mount it to the intercooler bracket.

The other means of retaining the top lid of the air box to the bottom are three plastic rings on the left side. Unfortanutely, according to your photo they're broken. This is extremely common. 4 of mine are broken. I live with it for now. Two things you could:

1. nothing
2. Apply silicon sealant to the seam.
3 Try replacing bottom unit
4. Replace air box with cold air system

Thanks for the tips Jason. The airbox lid wont even lie flush with the bottom(hoses trying to lift off the lid). I don't want crap getting in there. Silicone would make it a bitch to change the AF, but by then I'd probably want a cold air kit.

Check your PM's... its easy.

Also, I forgot on thing. If you break the three loops on the passenger side of the airbox you can fix it with little zipties (these things are the 8th wonder of the world). I drilled small holes through the lip, NOT THE SIDES, of the top and bottom of the airbox and threaded the zipties through. When you want to remove it to change or reoil your airfilter, just cut them off.

I think that if you put a K&N in there you will either have to shave down the molding of the filter or you will break these 3 loops. Maybe K&N has fixed this by now.

RB cold air duct

If you use the K&N filter, be sure to lubricate the gasket like they suggest. Otherwise it is difficult to get the top of the air box on without binding. Also- while you are adding additional cold air, consider using the additional do-it-yourself ducts suggested by Rob Robinette on his site. Cut two holes in the bottom of the stock air box and connect them to the outside cold air with flexible aluminum 2 inch piping, like used for the carberator pre-heat ducts on most American cars. Run the ducts down to the opening next to the radiator, through the foam rubber filler and out to the opening below the front bumper. This adds another big bunch of cold air and doesn't have to steal from the air to the IC. I was amazed how much better the air flows with the RB and home-made ducts. Also a lot less than the carbon fiber or fiberglass aftermarket cold air boxes. Plus- you can get stock or K&N filters without having to find some obscure part number for the filter.

Don't waste your time with it. I had it once and it was a mess. Return it and get the whole intake upgrade. ie.PFS intake, N-tech...
