race ported and 4 rotor conversion

how much base horse power would a race ported 3mm and a 4 rotor conversion engine give me for a 1994 rx-7 touring? and what engine type should i get for this kind of work?

please don't flame me from my recent posts about engines.

Get ready ...here they come.( the flames) Search the web for how many 4 rotor race prepped 3mm sealed engine's there are....NOT MANY IF ANY ( besides the 787b ..i think.) and even that wasn't a 13B 4 rotor correct fellas? This is not a feasible idea unless you can figure out and design all the necessary components needed.( which i have no flippin clue what that would take) Sorry

Are you retarded? If you have to ask, then don't even think of doing it. This is not a "swap". This is a complete remake of an entire car. You would have to replace everything. If you WERE to do it, it would give you a lot of horsepower - like hitting the 700hp mark easy (estimation by me). But it's not easy at all. Just read about what people have to do to fit a 20B in their cars. Then take that to the next level.

Didn't think I'd have to use this again so soon.

You should really just sell your car. FD requires alot more knowledge and experience than you have, and seem to be willing to take on. Please think of the car.

There is a quadrotor powered 3rd Gen RX7 which has just started racing in New Zealand - I don't have any information on how much power it is running at the moment, but having had very little strip time so far it has already run high 10s in this form so can't be doing too bad for power

This is the only website that I know of dealing with four rotor conversions.

And I am in before the lock.

The 787B had an R26B N/A 4-rotor engine, which produced roughly 700hp - and no, it wasn't derived from the 13B.

But theoretically, if you could manufacture an appropriate eccentric shaft (good luck!), and devise an effective engine management system for it, you could certainly make a 4-rotor engine with some ridiculous output. The real problem is putting that into an FD - ignoring the extensive modifications required to fit that large of a motor to the chassis, you would make the FD into a Viper (or worse) in terms of weight distribution, unless you perform even more extensive modifications to the chassis and relocate a good chunk of weight to the rear of the car. Then you have likely changed the center of gravity and roll center as well.

Bottom line is, unless you are an experienced automotive chassis engineer, you will end up completely screwing up the handling of the car.

If you're into drag racing (eek), it may not matter so much...

It has basically got a pair of 13B's joined and has a custom eccentric shaft - fully naturally aspirated It is also peripheral port....

Thats exactly what I think when I see these kids(i'm 18 too) trying to do some crazy mods they dont have the money or exp to be doing. Most of the time they are trying to find some loop hole in buying an FD which in turn end up being one that is nearly collapsing on itself. Even worse is when they put some cheap fake chromed 18x7s with some shitty plastic tires and wonder why they loose control. I really wish some of these guys would stop making me look worse then i already do.

There was this 4-rotor at sevenstock. It was made by joining 4 12a rotors and housings. I have no more information on it though.

Well, actually I thought/think he's full of ****, but that shop DID do a 23A 4-rotor single turbo car, which someone posted above. I thought I'd give the guy a chance before everyone ripped him a new one...

I'd like to actually see some details of how they did both the 3 and 4 rotor cars... hard to believe that it all adds up.

What sort of custom parts were involved, and how much does it cost? Production/installation pics?

Here's a dyno sheet for that 4 rotor FD that Autotech did which is posted on their site:

And here's some Quicktime vids of them running the engine in the shop, which is still probably untuned at this early stage:

I think that dyno sheet is for the 20b not the 4 rotor.

1. If you look at the file name it's labelled as a 20b
2. The same sheet appears under the 20b project section.
