There was a forum member who sourced the actual material from Japan. Basically it's a more affordable version of Alcantara. (Alcantara is an expensive name-brand for this type of material).

Unfortunately I suspect that with fading in sunlight, even if you had the proper material it would not match very well. So anything "similar" is probably as good as it gets.

Last I checked there are three parts to the seat upholstery and the cheapest one is $300. It's about a grand to do all 3 pieces.

They are not Alcantara. They are suede imitation Faux-Alcantara. The reason why unpholtery shops can't find the material that matches is because they are worn out. I took my car to an shop to have them redone and at fist they couldn't tell me what material was but as soon as he saw my passenger side seat (which is in pefect shape) then he told me the material. But to get it to match you have to do both seat. He also told me that in time they will fade and tear just like my driver seat is so he recommended to change the material.

I call leatherseats.com and asked how much for a full suede seat cover. Well the guy that I talked to just happen to have an FD and told me that he only recomend actual Alcantara suede because it is more durable but at the cost of $2100.

He sent me a saple picture and they look AWESOME. I'm considering getting some JDM Recaros covered on that.

A lot of cars that come from japan are hard to get a hold of the original material. Your best option is just to recover both seats, so they match.

Keep in mind that cloth wears much faster than vinyl/leather, especially on bolsters from sliding in an out. No matter if its alcantara or a cheaper polymicro suede. The only difference with Alcantara is that it does not fade as quickly, its not any "stronger" than most fabrics.

On a side note hondasr4kids, i can do a full alcantara seat for you cheaper than $2100. PM me if your serious about doing ur seats.

both are true! and yeah the factory option isn't the cheap way, but they are the right material, they fit properly, and its just hog ringed on, so no need to have anyone else do it

Ima call Malloy in the morning and see if ray can get it... If not I guess I'm going to stick with something that's pretty close, definitely not spending 2g's on stock seats! Lol!!
