R1 Strut Bar too Tall?

I've always wanted a R1 strut bar and now as I'm finishing up my engine bay I finally got one and I'm cleaning it up real nice. I went to test fit it though about a month ago and it doesnt fit at all. I couldnt even close the hood onto the safety latch. So its about 2inches or more too high. How do I ajust this? It fits on the shock mounts perfect its just way too tall. Maybe the car I got it off of was in an accident and it got bent or something?
im probably just not adjusting it right.

thanks

I had an R1 bar on mine for a while, but it was actually too low! I have the M2 medium IC setup, and the piping coming from the turbos to the IC would rub along the R1 bar. My hood had a bit of trouble closing too, but it was because of the IC pipe and not the bar. I just hammered it down a bit, and all was well.

I can't see how the stock R1 bar would actually be too tall...what mods do you have?

You must have it on wrong. It should fit unless the bar is bent (which should be obvious), or your car has been in an accident, and was not repaired properly.

In everyone's case who's bar does not fit - something is definitely wrong. It should fit fine.

Adam, did you try the smog testing yet?

No one can help you without seeing it. Post a pic. You should not need to remove padding.
