I would really like to know, dose it really make any diff if you got a R1 or not?..

Cuse you are going ot do what you want with it anyways. Make a better motor and so on. This is something I have been thinking about latey when I look over RX7 for sale...

 

just get any RX-7 you can find that is in good condition, unless you dont want leather or sunroof

 

it just depends on your taste for interior kinda. the r1 and r2 have an added strut tower brace that is very nice actually, but if you are wanting to put nothing but aftermarket parts on the car then it only matters what kind of interior and exterior dress options you want. i (somehow) found a base model with a black cloth interior. . . the only one i have ever found in person. its the combo i wanted. . . and thats what counts. the r1's, now that i think about it, have like .4 quarts larger oil capacity than the base and touring models. that is definately an added plus on an rx-7!!!

I don't think it matters too much. The only thing that you really want to think about is the sunroof if you do get a base or r model. That's something that you can't add on later.
