Quickest way to pull the engine/trans?

I need to pull the engine out of my FD - I don't need to disassemble it at this time I just need it out of the car to get the car repaired. It may need work at a later date but I can disassemble it then if that is the case.

I searched through the archives but could not find anything - does anyone know of a writeup or would care to post what the minimum number of things and quick/easy way of getting either just the engine or the engine/trans combo out of the car?

thanks everyone, with your help I can have this car back on the road restored to her former glory sooner instead of later!

noone knows how to pull a motor?

somehow I find that hard to believe, especially with stock FD's legendary reliability lol.

guess I'll figure it out myself.

FSM is your best friend, I've followed its instructions and it was great.
you can also purchase the pdfs from some members here also.

the quick rundown
-remove i/c battery, intake, and the bracket that holds these together
( you can leave the radiator there)
-disconnect tranny from the driveshaft
-disconnect downpipe (2 bolt side, you can leave the downpipe there too)
-remove power plant frame 5 big bolts
-disconnect the ecu from all the plugs and run it out through the firewall.
-disconnect ac lines, power steering line, fuel lines
-take off the two engine mount bolts

and look around for some miscellaneous things i might have forgotten.

Some how I find it hard to believe the search revealed nothing. It's a pretty straight forward job no matter which way you do it (motor only) or motor and trans. The tricky parts that most have are the pull type clutch (searchable) and getting the wirring harness unhooked from the ECU and out without damage. Some say it's easier with the tranny others have been just as successful leaving it in the car (one trick when putting the motor back in with the tranny still in the car) is to leave the motor mounts off till the motor and tranny are bolted back together. I have the dealer FSM and it was quite helpful so the one stickied here for download should do just fine for any other information your unble to find.

I think it's best to pull it with the trans, I've pulled it without the tranny before and its a pain to get it back in. Now I just pull it with the tranny and when im done dealing with what ever problem, it's a breeze to get it back in.

hey, thanks guys!

needFD that was particularly helpful.
I'm trying to track down a (book-type) FSM, I have two second gen ones somehow and they've been invaluable.
