Quick questions for those that have lifted a motor/pulled a tranny
Well as soon as I get home I'm going to lift/support my motor on my engine lift and pull the tranny.
I was going to drain the engine oil (going to reseal the oil pan), tranny oil and MAYBE the coolant?
I already have everything except the PPF, bolts, and clutch off the tranny. I have a tranny jack to assist w/ this also. I was wondering if there is anything I should know (little quarks) before I go at this.
If I plan on resealing the oil pan do I need to drain the coolant in the motor? or can it be lifted high enough w/out having to drain the coolant?
I have a shop manual and will be following the directions in there. Just a little worried about the engine falling backwords or anything strange like that? (I have a leveler for my lift tho)
Also if anyone can give me a heads up on resealing the oil pan... that would be great also!
Hopefully by tonight I'll have a tranny off and see if it was acutally the clutch causing the problem.
tia, Chris

Are you the same guy that also needed to replace the rear main seal? If so I think you should pull the motor and trans together, do the job out of the car.
Pulling the oil pan requires dropping the engine cradle (and a lot of other stuff), you only need to hold the motor in place with a hoist, don't lift it. The motor can't really travel straight up that far, the trans hits the firewall.
If you have the trans out and are lifting the motor to reseal the oil pan you'll notice lifting the motor high enough to R+R the oil pan will stretch the crap out of all your coolant hoses, wiring, a/c lines, ps lines, oil cooler lines, etc.
