With my sunroof, it is hard to get up from the closed position. If I hit the switch the sunroof barely moves. I have to push it up to help get it going, but once it is up it operates perfectly. I would think that it is a weak motor. All of the contact points are greased regularly. I haven't checked how much a new motor is, but I'm sure it's expensive.....I think I'll just live with it untill the motor goes out completely

I know pretty much all FC sunroofs need the inital push to get them open - once they pop up, they open and close the rest of the way fine.
When you get the sunroof open, I'd recommend cleaning the rails out and lubricating them with white lithium grease - you can find spray cans of it at most auto parts stores.
