Quick question for people w/o airpumps
After removing the airpump you have to cap off that hard pipe. If that cap were to crack would it make any weird noises or be a problem?
Reason I ask is I have what sounds like a small exhaust leak but I dont have any problem with driving/boosting. I was thinking maybe DP gasket but when I was looking around the turbo side I saw that cap was cracked. I removed my airpump about a month ago and before now I have never noticed any hint of exhaust leak.
Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
It would mainly depend on your ACV valve(if you have one or not). If you do, it could cause you boost when the ACV turns on.

Thanks for the quick response, yes I still do have the ACV I guess I should get a cap for now. Whats the best size to cap that off? I think I had a 3/4 inch on there before.

**** if I know. I just took the ACV and made a block off plate for it, then I took out all the stupid hard pipes connecting to the LIM.

I had an exhaust leak noise and chased it down to my ACV. There was a piece of metal (from my siezed air pump, I deduced) holding the check valve open. Put it all back together and it was a little better, perhaps, but still quite loud.
It ended up being the center section of the primary turbo coming loose from the turbine housing a bit after one of the bolts worked itself loose. What a pain that was!

10 mm bolts???Where did you find them? Why did you pulled the engine out?You can get to pretty much everything (as far as external work) w/engine in the car.
A have this stupid exh. noise like from around the turbos too,did EVERYTHING ,still no luck.

Well, on the Jspec FD's, the stupid steering column is in the way of taking off the turbines. It's a PITA to take them off...little room made even smaller with the steering column.

I'm not sure what to do with it.

Did not realize You have a right hand drive car.
