Well i just replaced one of the stock twins because it was blowing oil through into the exhaust. Causing it to smoke really bad. Well when i did i found a large part missing meaning that i had a huge boost leak. So i fixed that ha.

Well now that the obvious problem causing the smoke is gone and fixed, it still smoked a little. I am still on the base map on the power fc (it has just been tweeked a little using some tunning notes that i bought and some information from dale clark) well he did it for me. But, it smokes at idle. Just noticed it tonight and it seems to be black. At what afr does the exhaust usually smoke black?

I know that i am idling in the low 11's and sometimes high 10's but is that low enough to show signs of black smoke? And if not, what should i look for that might be causing this. Would talk to dale but i will see him at work tomorrow so yea?!?!?!

Any other opinions?

That seems like a pretty rich idle. Mine is around a high 12 or low 13.
At what RPM are you idleling?
What upgrades do you have to your exhaust, intake, fuel, etc.?

 

Yea, talked to dale today and it is rich.

I have intake, front mount, full exhaust, power fc, street port on stock injectors and stuff for now.

Just built the motor not to long ago so it is still healthy.

And i idle right around 900 because with the street port if i go any lower it starts becoming a problem.
