Does it go from the straight end through the filter then out the U bent end? Or the other way around?

Just to keep this completely clear, the fuel comes from the tank through the straight end of the fuel filter, through the filter, out of the side of the fuel filter with the u bent pipe then to the injectors, right?

 

The filter will be marked "in" and "out" on each side. Also, the lines will be designed in such a way that they won't fit well if you were to connect the "in" line to the inlet of the filter.
