Looking sweet.

Give us a nighttime shot of the HUD, so we can see what that looks like.

no problem...give me a day or two.

The HUD is actually nice as it has a warning light that you can set for max boost. The downside is that it is displayed in the same units as the PFC (which I don't mind) though some would prefer it show PSI...

the other issue is you have to apply a film to keep it from gettin a "ghost" image from the thickness of the glass. I am still trying to find the "best" location for the display as the curvature of our windshield "turns" the reflected image a bit.

On that note...does anyone have a good way of attaching this piece to the dash? I have used double sided tape but it isn't holding. Plus I need it to hold up to the Texas heat...any ideas?

Looks like you got NAILED by a bird...

Anyways, beautiful engine bay and I like the interior.

I was thinking about the boost gauge idea the other day and wondered if anyone made that type deal. I'd like to see a pic at nightime also.

What type of seats are those?

Looking good man, one of my favorite setups!

daiblone...I was close....debated selling the whole kit and kaboodle...

xstacy...I did....I was driving to a autox training session and BAM...I thought someone threw a coconut at me! Just looks like a bird with some serious gastrointestinal distress!

about the guage, I bought it from Damian here on the forum a long time ago. They are no longer available from Defi though they may come out with others...

The seats are katskins...I got them from roadsterdoc...I have been hunting far and wide for black seatbelt holders to do this conversion.

you can read about it here:
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...ight=seat+belt

there are other HUD displays...I mentioned a couple in links in the interior subforum.

The last thing I am doing...since the Profec B is in the glove box, is to wire a remote swith to a OEM switch in the center blank spot that I could tap to go from low to high boost. I also want to hook up a indicator light to the switch to indicate low and high boost. If anyone has any ideas or has already done this...please let me know.

That's what I did! I placed a 1x4 peice of wood on the IC pipe, and slowly whacked it with my BFH until the pipe was squashed flat enough on the top to clear the hood. Not the most eloquent solution, but it was late and I was tired. With this "method" you may have to repolish (I didn't as my pipe is painted).

Ahhh yes....the BFH...made by Apexi I think...no Greddy...ya....

I kinda like the Louisville Slugger Type R myself

LOL...I wondered how you got that area so FLAT!!!

Anyways I might have to go that route if the cast version of Kevin Wyum pipe is delayed or never made....

Chris, what did you do to brace the other side so that you didn't squash it also?

Hey!!! Looks Great!!!

There is a Button that Greddy makes that mounts onto your steering wheel just for the purpose of switching from high to low. If i remember right you can either hold it to hold at high boost or just jap it back and forth. Most of the pro racers that still use profec bs and the sort still use the button. I guess you can check greddy's catalog and talk to someone with an account with them. I know Rotary Performance uses the button on thier race car. Give them a call or I can do some hunting for you.

The HUD can be flush mounted. I know Mark did your CF wrap but I really cant tell how much of it all from the pictures. The back side of the hood/cluster is a perfect place for it if you really dont mind the sticker in your vision on the windshield. I believe it was Alex Nguyen with the Cameleon R Magic Wide body that had the HUD flushed into his cluster so that all you could see was a square hole and two leds cut into the top of the cluster hood. If that doesnt float your boat, you can mount that thing into the center speaker. That speaker is worthless anyways. It gives you some room to play with without a speaker there, BUT i would expect some cutting of the dash. Just get a sheet of CF and rivet it down to cover up any dash cutting you do. There are so many options. And you know im full of crazy ideas.

Can i come by sometime and see it all in person? I really wanna see Marks work.

no prob Huy, sent you a PM

about the flush mounting...and mounting it into the cowl....I was totally going to do that. If you know someone who can do it let me know.

I was playing around with it yestarday and the problem with putting it in these locations is that the windshield is curved...so if you mount it straight on the dash or cowl, it projects angled due to the angle of the windshield...

What I was thinking is if someone could make a piece of glass that acted like the window then I wouldn't have to worry about the mounting location (the angle would have to be right to project correctly and clear the windshield) but then I wouldn't have any problems and it would look kinda like a F16 HUD projection...

know anyone willing to help me on this one?

you should also come by the house, I have the other CF parts (door, sills, 99 lip and rear bumper plastic)

About the boost switch...I already know about it but it looks aweful. Ray and I were trying to wire it up using the same mono plug that goes into the back of the profec B and use another OEM switch like the defrost switch that you could tap on and off.

about the seats walien...check a couple post up...they are katzkins (same as FD3boost I think)

I didn't realize how much you were having done! I love it; flashy without being an eyesore. Very mature and professional looking.

Nothing worse than an FD as a garage queen. Glad it's on the road

Bob, I hammered the SOB while it was in place, so the airpump braced it. It doesn't take much force at all since it is thin-walled aluminum. Had I not been tired and had more time, I would have put it on a 4x4 to brace it underneath. But that may not have worked as well or been as easy to get the correct shape. The way I did it ensured a good fit.

Thanks DamonB. I can't wait to get the thing broken in and autocrossing again.

Brent! Stop teasing me with the front mount!

Roadsterdoc...I think the pipes are too thick to bend that way...these pipes are NOT as thin as my intake pipes...these definitely have some beef to them.

thanks for all of the interior/engine bay comments...no one curious about the engine eh???

Hey 7racer,

I was wondering about your carbon fiber interior. Was it just stuff you lay ontop of the original, or was it a complete replacement. If it is a replacement, how was the fitment and did it come with everything you need? Also, did you replace the door peices. how much did you spend? My interior could use some new peices and I like the look of yours. Thanks for any help.

quick update to a request for the HUD gauge.

The Defi HUD is wired that when you have the lights on it dims...other wise it is bright...and easily seen during the day...

here is where it is mounted currently...but am debating where else to put it. (open to suggestions)

*the image is blurry due to the difficulty in gettin the camera to autofocus on it. Also I took off the film so there is a double image, but you get the idea...

It appears much larger than the pic shows...here is a BLURRY close up...

as you can see there is both an pseudo-analog (bar graph) and digital readout

I would probably put it on the right side of the gauge cluster in more of the center of the windshield, but I would have to actually see it to make a final decision that just sounds good in my head
