Quick boost gauge question (ive checked the archives!)

Cant find this in the archives..........

Just installed a boost gauge (SPA) that uses the same nylon hose as the autometer and other gauges, so ive got the same problem - that being its too small to go over the nipple on the inlet manifold. So i used some adapters to take the hose size to 5mm (approx 5/32") and it fits well.

Trouble is i think the boost is reading low (5-3-5 boost pattern) , but my butt dyno says its spot on. Car is quick !!! So my question is that by using the larger hose, have i made the gauge inaccurate ? Since pressure is force x area, i guess ive increased the internal area of the hose ? Ive only used about 2" of it. Has anyone drilled and tapped their inlet manifold specifically for the thin stuff ?

Or am i talking rubbish and its just highlighed a boost leak ?

Thanks

Chris

The hose size for the gauge will not affect boost pressure or the reading.
Maybe the gauge is off.
