questions regarding high idle and spark readings.

Well a few weeks ago I had my UIM off to replace my plugs and wires and ever since then my idle has been higher(around 1200). Another strange thing is after driving for q while and come to a stop my idle will bounce from 1100-1500rpm for a few seconds and return to somewhere around 1100 again. Its strange because before any of this I had a rock solid rpm of 800 and now I can't get it to go down. I have tried loosening the throttle cable and adjusting the idle screw with minimal results. As for the spark question, is it normal for your trailing plug to read lower voltage than the leading on most occasions?

wonder if you have air leaking into the intake. One test of that is to spray carb cleaner around gaskets and see if rpm goes up.

sound like a vacuum leak.

good idea I'll try that this afternoon. I was thinking it was a vacume leak as well but I find it strange that the "bouncing" idle isn't a constant occurrence.

If the leak is somewhere between two metals, it wont be constant thing. (depends on the size of the gap. Because heat can be a factor where metal expands at a certain temperature and therefore the "gap" will be bigger causing a higher leak. Where as compared to cold engine, you bouncing idle might be less or severe depending on the situation.

Makes a lot of sense. I have a feeling my leak is coming from either the elbow or my throttle body. I snapped one of the four bolts to the throttle body and I have a feeling the replacement bolt isn't quite long enough. Another strange thing I've heard is when putting the elbow back on the little charcoal canister has to be put on first sandwiched between the throttle body and the elbow or else you'll develop a leak, is there truth to this?
