questions about removing stock turbos.

Well i was wondering if there is any kind of trick to getting main top heatsheald off? I cant seem to find any more bolts holding it on but yet it still will not budge. after that comes off what is the best way to remove the turbos to get to the manifold?
thanks in advance

there is a bolt on the front holding that little piece on. i dont remember if you have to take the heat shield off though... but when u put the turbos back on, dont put that one nut thats causing the problems.

You need to first remove the turbos then take the shield off.

I just took a set of turbos off and you do not have to remove the heat shield. That's a waste of time. Remove the main bolts that hold the turbos on plus 2 on each of the oil return lines. remove the vacuum lines, oil line, and coolant lines and they will lift out with some twisting and prying.

It's true , it's not necessary to remove the heat shield. Unless of course if you want to swap a bad cartrage out.

well i finally got them off, thanks for the info!
I noticed that there was oil in the intake and exhaust side on both turbos all the way up to the turbo manifold but i didnt notice any on the exhaust ports. could the turbos have slung the oil that far up on both side or does it sound like an oil seal in the engine? before i took the turbos off, the motor would start with no problem it just smoked which i belive (and hope ) was just the pooled oil in the exaust and down pipe. any sugestions?

Yes, turbos will sling a little oil into the intake. If it's enough to pool in the bottom intercooler pipe, then it's probably too much. But a film is normal.
