Question for a new guy.

All right. I have a motor and 5-speed transmission. On this motor, the wiring harness has been cut. Ok, that's fair game. That happens when a motor is taken out in a fair amount of time. However, I have a wiring harness for an automatic FD. (Obviously, I'm doing a 5-speed swap.) I've read about how people have used the auto harness on a 5-Speed motor. Sure, that sounds like fun. My question is: What connections to the manual transmission can be made with the automatic wiring harness?

I've tried to match up connectors and nothing matches up. Is it because I don't need to match anything up from the harness to the transmission? Is is possible that the manual transmission has no relavance to the main harness? Also, does the main atuo harness connect to the 5-speed starter in anyway? Or does that require some splicing?

I've done the seaches and I can't figure it out. Maybe I'm just a lost soul. If you guys could help out, that would greatly be appreciated.

Every automobile that I know of had a different ECU for the automatic vs. manual versions. I haven't delved too far into the ECU's of RX-7's yet, but you might be able to find the info you're looking for by calling a Mazda dealer and asking if there are different part numbers for the auto & manual.

Good luck,

I have the PFC, so I guess that is classified as a manual ECU.
