Sup FD owners. My question is if you raise the rpm redline from 8000 to 9000k does it make any difference,

i was thinking it would help out with acceleration, but im guessing it would be to much for the 13B-TT

I would figure the only time to actually raise the RPM's is if you port the engine, Reason : Some porting will rendure your performance at low rpms and you will only have that power on high rpms, like Bridge porting. you wont see your true horsepower until 5000k

it wouldn't help acceleration...the SHORTER your gear ratios, the quicker the revs. the longer the ratios, better top end.

^^not really

its all relative

but in general, you are right..

the shorter the gear ratios, the quicker the revs and most of the time, that means a lower top speed..but vice versa with longer gear ratios, better top end to what degree? lets say you have a 2004 celica 6 speed, longer gear ratios than the 5 speed obviously but that doesnt really mean it has "better" top end.. i mean the 6th gear is pretty much pointless due to the lack of power it needs to actually move that car in its 6th gear..

but i get your point though

This thread blows, for more reasons than I care to list. Jim, I am surprised you were so gentle
