question on drivers door panel
As I am in the process of reconditioning some of my interior plastic panels, I took my driver's door panel off and removed all the plastic pieces. During this, I noticed that my panel had suffered quite a bit of damage, the previous owner had installed or had someone install an aftermarket stereo that has separate amps and crossovers for components in the doors...and it looks like the installer broke some things and then did a cover-up job, for instance my panel was silicone glued in to the door panel, I had to carefully cut this glue out to even get my panel apart.
In the picture, I have an area circled that appears to be missing a 'crossover' piece....is that true? I am already doing a...redneck repair....on another broken area just forward of this, note the toothpicks epoxied in to place...lol.
I am wanting to 'glass in some supports/repair pieces, but I need to know if someone has a picture of what an intact, perfect condition panel looks like?

Thanks, Mahjik...that is exactly what I needed. It is obvious now that there was indeed a crossover piece back by the storage bin complete with metal 'brace' that I do not have.
Now though, thanks to you, I can fabricate a replacement!
You are awesome.

Hey Bajaman, dale Clark has a great door panel how to on his site. when I did mine it was a great help. also add some extra foam to the door panel's interior for sound proofing. it makes the door feel so much stronger and gets rid of the hollow sound when closing the door. a good fix is the expanding foam in a can from home depo used to seal electric boxes and windows its even yellow like the back of the panel. it sticks good and can be shaved down to fit nicely when you re install

I fiberglassed some of mine as well .I cut somesheet metal braces and reinforced all that was needed .The main help was a part I cut and glassed in that extends to the door frame .Before putting the pull cut inplace I drilled through the new part into the door and put in a screw .Now when I pull the door to close the panel can not flex . I have also reinforced the other side as well . The speakers are swapped out with 6.5 inch Memphis , another job in itself .

I hate to admit it but the FD interior is a real piece of Sh$$. every time I remove something I need to come up with a creative way to reinforce something and make it more durable. everything on this car is so much work but I guess I am just a perfectionist.

How so? Feels sturdy enough to me. The look and feel of the interior could be better but i think it looks quite well for a 16-17 year old car.
