question for the dragracers out there

My freinds (unbeknownst to me) have been talking a lot of **** to the locals and have made several sidebets involving my car at the local 1/8 drag strip. My car isn't really setup for drag... nor have i EVER been down the dragstrip before. I'm one of those road course guys...ya know.. anyway, seems to be alot of people betting my 2 buddies that my car can't break 7.9's or better in the 1/8. What can i expect out of this thing next weekend?? Anybody?

Aggressive half-bridgeported FD, GT35/40R , HKS FMIC, 3 "downpipe only (electric cutout valve at the end of the DP, yes it's very loud) 9.5lb flywheel, ACT extreme clutch, stock gears, and will be on 275's yoko A032R tires. I think thats all the mods that are relavent to this. The car is strong, and has all the other misc mods to support this setup... I just wanna know what my chances of doing this are??

Thanks guys,

Shannon

if you can press the gas pedal to the floor with your foot you would pretty much have to get 7.9's or better in the 8th with your mods. Just launch it hard and shift fast enough to make a grown man cry.

I broke my diff once from launching too high. Im guessing you have almost no low end, so I would say 5000 RPM

I used to run Yoko a032r(275/40 R17's) and had to launch above 6k rpms to get it to not bog down. The A032r's grip like a **** and have decent sidewall to help with torque shock...they're just not exactly a daily driver compound type of tire. You will definitely be breaking the 7.9 second barrier.

What boost are you running again?

i run nitto 555r's. i leave the rpms around 4-5k, and progressively slip the clutch while depressing the clutch. i managed a 1.66 60ft and a 7.32 on my pump gas settings. i don't think you'll have any problems. i had a friend drive my car once when i still had the twins on, and he got a 7.62 out of it. it might take a few tries to get the launch down, but you'll have no problem. slipping the clutch is almost a must or your car will fall on it's face

I assume you have your rearend devoid of wheel-hop and a stronger diff? If not, then *boom* you'll be pushing it off the track. As I did with my torsen diff exploding when I broke my axle.

Other than that. You should flat-out anihilate 7.9.
