Question about street port engine

After I rebuilt my engine, I also got the street port for it. I found that when I release the gas pedal while driving, I will hear the "pop" sound from the exhaust. Is it normal? Please give me some suggestion.

the 'pop' sound is probably just backfire caused by running rich. no biggie. better rich than lean. whats your ecu? tuned?

I use Power FC. It just tuned by my mechanic, but It don't have any back fire from the exhaust. I am wondering that is it necessary to get aftermarket ECU when the engine is street-ported?

Hey Jerry,

We should split the cost on a Datalogit for our PFCs. Then we can take it to Lowell's or Staff's and get it done on a wideband.

That's mean street-port engine should have the same condition as the stock engine, right?? The "pop" sound is because the car is running rich. Any suggestion?
