question about 13b potential

Just out of curiosity as im still learning the physics of our rotary engine but although static displacement is 1.3L but operating theoretically its 2.6L. With this in mind why is our hp limit lower than lets say an RB26 for the most part. So far i haven't seen any 13b's north of 800hp. Yea sure maybe theres some nerd out there thats got one but its not common at all and mustve been hella of hard work vs getting a RB even into the 4 digit range. What is it about the rotataries that limit themselves vs a theoretical piston equivalent. Thanks guys

Rotaries engine can be as strong as a piston engine if it is extremely well tune.

One reason is that you cant increase the displasment, you cant realy bore out the engine, if you did you would have to make bigger rotors to seal off the combustion chamber. Rotaries dont really need to be 800-1000hp to be crazy fast because they are so light. 500hp in a FD feels like 700hp in anyother car.

Really the only way to increase the displacement in a rotary is to add rotors. I have heard of 20b's hitting the 1000hp mark. Going from a 13b, 2 rotor, to a 20b, 3 rotor, you have just increased your dislpacement by 50%! and more displacment means more power.

There is one 13b Fd that I know has come close to the 800hp mark and that is the one from SCOOT. I Have included a link of that car doing a dino pull, you are going to want to turn up the volume for this, the turbo is so loud it almost hurts the ears.

Isnt the 13G the other 3rotor engine mazda made? Well those do make 1000hp+ but there is only a handfull of those race only engines and expect to pay $30,000 - 40,000 for just the engine.
