MS A question

I'm curently getting a 93 rx-7 from a friend or a friend... It has a built motor ( not to sure what port i'll find out that info later on today and post it) but 3mm apexi seals supporting fuel mods its still on the stock twins ( plan to go single later on down the road ) and of course the regular bolt ons!

I've had turbo cars before I've had a 415whp srt4 and a TT 300zx so I'm not new to the turbo cars but i'm lost when it comes to these motors

I do have one starter newbie question is 12psi kinda low for the high boost setting??? even on my 300 it ran 14.5 on just a jwt ecu upgrade...12psi just seems kinda low

it depends on what kind of ECU he's running, if he's still on the stock ECU then he shouldn't be running more than 10psi. the stock ECU can only provide enough fuel for 10psi, so if you run over that you're risking detonation.

but by the list of mods i'm sure he was smart enough to get either a PFC or equivalent ECU.

on the stock twins though, 12psi is good. pretty much anything above 15psi those turbos are useless

because he's running 12psi leads me to believe that he's still running the stock ECU. you need to find that out first.

another thing, if he's still on the stock ECU but has a full exhaust, there is no way for him to control his boost, even with a controller, so he's prolly getting boost creep

the wastegates on the turbos are too small to bypass enough exhaust to maintain 10psi if you are running a full exhaust so you'll get boost creep and if you're running the stock ECU, you're only getting enough fuel for 10psi....then BOOM, there goes your motor

so, you need to find out if he's still running the stock ECU and exactly what kind of mods he has then get back to us

also, put some more thought into your thread title

I'm supposed to be getting an exact list of mods....but It has the PFC hand held...he said he has had it on 15psi on race gas but never gone above that...I understand 15psi is all the turbos can handle....I guess i was expecting to be running on 15psi on pump
but like I said I'm a newbie when it comes to these motors so 15psi could be extreme...so I thought I would be smart and ask rather than be dumb and make a mistake!

sorry about the title I was on my phone writing this up

read the FAQ and stickies at the top, and make sure you search.

And while doing this perhaps think about how useful this board would be if everybody used 'A question' as their thread title.
