Question Q's about turbo kits, wastegateventing and prices

Hi all.

I have been reading numerous posts on this forum, and I find it very informative. But there are a few "holes" in my mind, and I wondered if you could assist me on some issues.

I am getting a single Turbo for my FD. On the forum, there is alot of discussions about what turbo, to get. They got me all confused ! Am I a "****" for just going with "the good ol'" GReddy T78 kit(looking for about 400-450 rwhp) ?

Also, wastegate venting. Is the GReddy kit wanting into open air? I really would like a system that vents the wastegate into the system again (I don't really fancy the noise). Is there a kit out there that will went back, and if so, whats the name of it.

At last, what about prices on webshops. I am spending about 11 500 $ on stuff "in one smack" on turbokit, haltec, IC, brakes, clutch, TEIN, etc.. Is it "normal" to get a discount on the webshop price when your laying down this much cash?

Thanks for reading this far.

have a nice roto-day

Smile Wastegate, not blow off....

Hi.

Thanks for your post.

But I mean the wastegate (excessive exhaust), not the blow off valve.

The Blow off valve will go into open air. I love that sound....lol

For a single turbo install you are looking at alot of work, seriously. The T78 is a nice kit for a ported motor.

There are kits that route the wg into the dp, the GT3540 kit is one. The other kits are easily routed back into the dp by a capable shop, may cost a bit and the quality varies all over the map.

FYI, the T78 requires cutting (and maybe weld repair) your lower intake manifold, custom piping for the IC and installation of a blowoff valve, weld up the wastegate outlet to the downpipe, and the fuel/ecu/boost control upgrades that should accompany any single turbo install.

You may want to keep looking around as there are some nice kits out there with water cooled bearings and other nice features.

I would go with the gt 3540 because you get the same sort of power as the t78 with less lag supposidly. Not very many people report on them so I dont know for sure but this is what you are suppose to get

Hi All.

Thanks alot for the posts so far.

I have been completely overlooking the "staged upgrades" offered by rx7store. Is the XS engineering T04S a good turbo, or is it just sh** they sell to Geeks like me... lol ;o)
