Yeah I would say a synchro. Just take it easy on the shift. Dont SUPER SHIFT and it will fall in place with gentle pressure. My 5th gear syncro is bad but I could care less when would I need to power shift in 5th? I just apply gentle pressure until it goes in. Also what weird is you have to push it a certian way. I dont grab the top, I lay my handon the side of the shifter when I go into 5th. Yes synthetic will help a lot but its not a cure all. Ohh yeah if you ever needed to power shift into 5th you wont even hear it grind because the noise you are making at 130+mph will over ride it. I wouldnt worry about it until a few gears grind no matter how slow you put it into gear.
