Loosen the front 4 PPF (power plant frame) bolts to allow a bit on movement in the trans. This will help to align things.
Put a jack under the trans and lift it until it almost touches the top of the tunnel.
You will need to line up 2 things to get it to drop in:
1. The shaft from the trans must be centered in the hole in the clucth/flywheel.
2. Both motor mounts(attached to the engine) within the depressions in the subframe. the bolts do not have to be in the holes, just in the depressions.
Once they are all in place lower the motor off of the hoist. You then can work the motor mounts into the holes from underneath with a screwdriver and install the nuts about 2 or 3 turns. Do not tighten. Twist trans to align bolt holes.
Lower the transmission off of the jack and tighten the PPF nuts.
Place the long trans bolt, with a short socket as a spacer, into the upper-most hole in the trans and hand tighten, drawing the trans and engine together. A very long extension with a 14mm swivel socket or swivel knuckle will make this infinately easier.
Used the long starter bolt and nut, in it's proper location(without starter) to draw in the rest of the way.
Install all trans bolts, starter, Clutch slave, and snap retaining ring over the throw-out bearing. BE ABSOLUTELY SURE that you have all this done before even attempting to push the clutch pedal in!
Hope this helps,
Mike
