Purchasing Engines or Trannies from Canada.

Hi, Has anyone in the US been told that Customs needs your Social Security number in order to ship an engine or tranny from Canada to the US?

This sounds strange to me.

I wouldn't give me SSN away for that. You are in Cali so you might as well order from Japan2LA anyways.

SSN for engine shipping??? It must be a new requirement

from which company your ordering the engine?
