I read the responses and I must say yall are an interesting group of people with great cars. Thats what I meant when I said "elite". But here is a question I have to ask, even though I've seen the forum somewhere else on this site. How old are most of the rx-7 owners on this site?

But honestly since when does owning a particular car put you in an elite group? Theirs no special training received when you buy one, nor do they give you any kind of a I.Q. test to pass before ownership(although there should be). You don't have any privilages that a normal citizen wouldn't have. It's just plain you bought a car, nothing elite about it. Not even for the fact that it's rotary powered. Or are you elite because you post in grey font?

Exactly. The price of entry into this so-called "elite group" isn't very high. Just pay the price.
A brand new Toyota Prius costs more than the average price of most FDs. They must be an "elite group".

Welcome to the forum, you'll have to be prepared to get flamed on a lot here, it kinda goes with the territory. Being young and owning an FD doesn't help either, I got mine at 16 (owned it for 2.5 years almost to the day), and I have gotten bs from some people just for being young and driving a sports car, most of the people here are very helpful and patient, but there are those on the forum who do little but criticize and don't offer not help or good advice. Maybe the elite part should be people making over 400rwhp with a/c and passing smog in CA at the same time.

So...if older people aren't being that nice on the forums...do you want all the teens w/ FD's to be asses too??? I'm not an *******, but it's very disrespectful, coming from an adult, to rip on someone for buying a car and he doesn't even know what is done to it. I bet most FD owners, kids included, have purchased their cars themselves. I bought mine when I was 18 and I do not pay $400/month for someone to criticize me for buying an amazing sports car with lots of potential, or with its potential already met. So, please, don't flame us, we don't flame you for being older and owning one???

Good lord people! Hi, dabigesii! Congratulations on your purchase.
Now my rub: please stop posting in that light gray color. It is barely readable if you use the "old school" forum skin (like I do). I guess we are all crotchety about something.

Congrats, respect the car...especially in the rain cause you'll think its solid then all the sudden the back end comes out. Also, dont go crazy with mods, just drive the car and enjoy it. Once you get to the point of swaping the ECU its an entire different ball game that gets expensive quick. Just get the car reliable, put on a few things like a dp and catback, radiator, ast, then just drive the car and have fun with it.
Also, no matter what happens ALWAYS buy the best rain tire on the market. It costs money but you'll wish you had when you wreck it. AND, just like I mentioned above dont get to confident just cause you have on good tires....the back end will still step out on it

I bought my first 7 when I was 17. On my second one now, sold the first one to some shlub in San Antonio. He never even had the compression checked, poor bastard. Anyways, treat the car well. Never forget to change the oil and never give it gas pulling left out of a parking lot. The first day I had my car I pulled out of the local car wash on to a big local road (620 for those in austin texas). Next thing I knew, I was sitting backwards in the road facing on-coming traffic. The car is light in the rear and loves to come around on ya. Take it to a parking lot if you dont believe me. Its very easy to get in to trouble in this car. That being said, I have never wrecked a 7 in almost 3 years of daily driving. Your right though, ins. sucks. I pay 300 a month.
As for all the older guys who say we're to young to own this car. In many cases your right, but not in all. In early 93 my nieghbors mother pulled in to their driveway in a brand new black 7. I damn near **** in my pants. I have literly been saving for the car ever since. Thats dedication. No one paid for my car except me.
Lol.. I regret it everytime I get the ins. bill. Driving the car makes it all worth it though.

dabigesii, welcome to the forum, if you can say that.
As you can read, it seems that you have committed a crime and a sin at the same time.
Post your age, buy an RX7 and use the word "elite" and you get flames and hate, left and right.
You see, few members here were unwanted babies and were not hug & loved by their parents.
They have alot of issues, insecurities, chimps on their shoulders and are bitter as hell.
They envy you, for your youth and the fact that you will enjoy this car longer.
They think because they have been here long or because of their high post count (inversely proportionate to their IQ), they can talk down to anyone.
Enjoy your car in health and learn to use the search button, so you don't get this much love in the future.

Welcome to the "club". I think it's elite only in choice of vehicle that's against the grain.. at least for those of us that use it as a daily driver). I still get a lot of comments, and then mention the car is 11+ years old. We're not rice, and we're not minivans or SUV's or Honda Accords (typical daily drivers). 7 years and counting as a daily driver here. In fact, this is only my 4th car, and I'm 36 . But, it's my second engine (blew at 95K) and second set of turbos.

lol - man you guys are brutal. I think when he said elite, he meant a group of guys that have a unique car. Not that anyone or even himself was better than anyone else. He used the word in the wrong context. It's like using the word "elite" instead of the word "priviledged" or something. He's just proud that he gets to own a beautiful car that has something unique to it that not a lot of people have the opportunity to own. You guys really need to lighten-up. Like I've said before, this forum is about sharing information and should be about our passion for the car. You guys are just scaring away people from the forum that could otherwise probably educate you in a lot of other ways. Hell I'm tired of lecturing...look around at other forums and see what the good ones are like - you'll notice a lot more information sharing and less bickering about the stupidest ****.

whats wrong with you people!?
apparently those who do not consider themselves "elite" or "better than others" feel the need to shoot people down all the time.
it would be nice if we all stopped busting on people for everything. and i think this jealousy stunt or whatever is ridiculous. im 19 and im paying off the car and yes i live at home how does that tell you anything about what kind of person i am? does it really matter that if i was living in some random apartment, id be driving a motorcycle instead? just cuz some of you had it rough as a kid. i understand that most kids with cars drive recklessly, too fast, take turns too fast, try to drift, and are spoiled rich kids, race everyone at the light. but you could try to be happy for some of the kids who ARE reponsible and appreciative of such a beautiful machine.
i think owning a car that maybe 5000 or less (thanks to "drifters" and such) still exist in this country that takes lots of willpower and money to maintain and keep, and is completely radical compared to any other car, is quite elite.
when he said "elite" i dont think he meant neil armstrong or lance armstrong or louis armstrong.
