Prosport water temp gauge driving me nuts!!!!!

Ok here is my dilemma, i just bought a Prosport premium water temp gauge and finish installing it today. when i start my car up the gauge powers on fine and does its start-up thing, this i begin the wait. i start to see my pfc temp reading rise and the gauge isnt doing a thing. i keep waiting and it slowly starts to rise but never gets past 140 degrees F. i have the sensor in the TB coolant line in a brass fitting i rigged up. the sensor has a white wire and a black wire which hooks into the back of the gauge. i have tried to ground the brass fitting....nothing. any help is appreciated.

Have you tried driving around and see if it ever matches, if it still does not match you may have a defective gauge...

1. Throttle Body coolant lines.

Pros: Easy to do. You can use a freely available tee-line with a 1/8 NPT tap in the tee to install the sensor. Reasonably accurate block coolant temperatures regardless of the thermostat state.

Cons: Slow rate of change. Less room for installation when the TB coolant lines are commonly bypassed. No advantage over the other locations except for ease of installation. Due to the flow of coolant through the block, this is really only showing you temperatures indicative of coolant passing through about half the block, post-radiator cooled. Grounding issues.

I'm sure you are seeing the cons of putting your sending unit into the TB area.

yeah ive seen the thread on where to put it and the slow response, but where ever you put it should eventually get to temp. i sat there for 20 min and it didnt budge from 140 degrees. does anyone have this gauge that could elaborate on there setup.

Did you burp the system after opening the coolant lines? IIRC the throttle body lines are at the highest point of the system and there may be air in there throwing off the gauges reading.

hmmm interesting. i did not burp the system, but i didnt drain the coolant when i did it either. no coolant came out of the line though. when i put the new motor in i blocked it off, but if there was air in the system wouldn't the car be running hot.

I know. Prosport is crap. I've seen so many of their gauges fail, it's not even funny.

Prosport gauges are known for their inaccuracy.

The boost gauge shows boost when the car is off.

That should explain it.

I have my Defi gauge reading off of the throttle body line and my temp readings are accurate and start reading right away like they should.

Have you read this thread? https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...light=prosport

Your gauge may be bad. I bought their premium gauges and returned them right away because they were junk.

I got a Prosport Premium boost gauge and it was off. If you are anywhere above sea level then the gauge will read off. There is a small screw in the sending unit you can use to zero the gauge out.
