Properly straping an FD to a dyno?

Last time I ran my car on a dyno the owner was VERY specific on how he wanted it strapped. This however lead to shoving a welding glove between the strap and the exhaust. After 30 mins of a couple of runs and tuning I put a hole through the glove.

What way can I strap this thing down that should satisfy the owner and not get in the exhaust's business?

Sometimes when you strap the straps in an "X" its hard to not touch the exhaust. You can either use chain and add some sort of sheath (welding glove) and add an extra strap on that side for safety.

We have a heat shield that we stick between the exhaust and the strap. I forget what its made out of but probably aluminum.
