Progress pictures

Little bit of fitment fun in the freshly sprayed engine bay soon to be home for my streetported TO4R beast...

I know it's dirty... Metal shavings everywhere... LOL

IC is the Greddy that Red RX7 sold me. Thanks Mike!

Koyo is all cleaned up and I'll polish the IC tomorrow.

Looks really nice. But I've never seen a shot of just how close the IC and the radiator sit.

That can't be good...

Yes. Aluminum radiator. I'm going to play with the rad a bit... it's not going to sit THAT close... This is just a fitment phase so I can do some measuring..

I can't imagine heat soak being any worse than a stock setup with the IC sitting over the rad... Even if it does soak a bit, It's a FMIC, so it'll cool quick, and what cant be cooled by movement will be cooled by water injection.

Didn't get a "true" FMIC because:
A: I didn't want to do any cutting... (I can hide the IC better this way and not be so obvious also)
B: I got it for 450.00 wouldnt you?
C: I've heard nothing bad about this IC, and it can always be replaced

I hope to be driving this pig in the next month... So we'll see how everything works out. If anyone has any ideas for mounting the rad/IC better (From experience!!) Please let me know. I've used this and other forums for help and it's proven to be very helpful.

Thanks for the comments!

Justin

I have the same set-up and the Rad. "should" mount a little further back once the brackets are all on. Glad to see you got it on there!!! Car looks nice dude! Keep me updated. Aloha, Dave P.S. The heat soak theory is one I had and am changing to the true FMIC for the single.

I agree that the heat soak is nothing that a little motion can't fix. Do you have the brackets for the top mounts for the rad.? You snuck in while i was writing!! I've got pics some where. I'll send them over soon!!

Most FMIC's will require some cutting of the bumper support or the actual mouth of the bumper itself. There are some that don't I'm sure...

The greddy FMIC also requires a bit of cutting on the inside front corners of the frame rail area.( easier to show a pic) and the bumper support as mentioned earlier. It is a really complete kit fore those looking!(The greddy FMIC from Rx7 store....plug,plug!!)

I just had to mention heat soak because the radiator is actually touching the intercooler, but as I read in these posts, it looks like that won't matter when it's all finally setup.

all fmic requires cutting I believe.

The only FMIC that won't need the battery moved is the Greddy I believe?

It's probably not the most efficient setup either way, but it should do the trick. I think the water injection will fix all the bugs. Thanks for your input though. Until you said that I never really even thought of it!

Had a good paint shop put it in cans. I know people would vote against it, but I'm positive that the durability is equal.. The finish is awesome too. Good consistancy. Course, I paint a lot..

There aren't many FD's with nice engine bay paint anyway... The heat really kills it. I just wanted nice fresh V/R...
