Profec B problems?

I have my warning pressure set to 11psi but sometimes around 8psi the display will switch between red and blue and beep like there's no tomorrow. It only does it sometimes.

Also either my autometer gauge or the profec is off when it comes to showing vacuum. They both agree on boost, but the profec shows about half the vacuum the autometer does.

Well i can help with your first problem from personal experience. I had the exact same thing happening to me so i call Greddy up on the phone. And they told me they were having this problem with some of there profec -b spec II 's.They said If you switch to BAR instead of PSI this problem should stop. Well i am a lot more comfortable with PSI so they told me to just mail it in( the head unit only) and They would reprogram it and they will ship it right back to me. Well i just got a call today from greddy And they said they fixed the problem and it will be shipped back to me the same day. I'm just waiting for it to arrive now. Give them a call (949) 588-8300 . Ask for Benny, he'll hook you up and let you know what to do.

Someone else may be able to chime in with the second prob. You may even ask Greddy about that too?

perfect, thanks a bunch

also I've fixed it by putting the limiter to 0% (although this is temp. since I liek this feature)

I'm very impressed with the greddy, I've been able to hold 10psi with an open 3" exhaust and non-seq. With only slight creep to about 11psi at the top of 5th

On your 2:1 vacuum discrepancy - I'd guess that one is in psi, and the other is in inches of mercury. 2-in of mercury is about 1 psi.

UPDATE: If you have this problem DON'T just call Greddy and tell them about it. I spoke with several people in Tech support and they had never heard of the issue. They also told me if I didn't have the receipt from an authorized dealer there was nothing that could be done, even if I were willing to pay. BTW: Rotary Extreme, Gotham, and rx7store are not listed as authorized dealers, only rx7.com is listed (of the places I've purchased from).

However once I found this thread (should have been easy since I started it) I got Benny's name. Called and asked to speak directly to him. He knew of the issue and just said to send it in with "ATTN: Benny" and he'd take care of it, including return shipping.

If you have the issue, send just the headunit in with a brief description of the problem (as a reminder) alogn with a return address and phone number to:

the vacuum "problem" was just what DaveW said, it was just a discrepency with the units.

So there is no warranty on a product unless you buy it from an authorized retailer?

correct, and liek I said, almost NO ONE is an "authorized dealer". Also they won't even repair it if you pay for it. So it's essentially a throw away piece if something happens. If it were not for Benny I'd be extremely upset with Greddy right now.

People should really be aware of this when buying Greddy electronics. Just because the shop hangs a Greddy banner doesn't mean they are authorized!

Wow thanks for the lookout. Now that should mean that if someone is not an Apexi Authorized retailer there would be no warranty on PFC's therefore buying from Japan is not so bad.....

that's not correct. The products that most stores sells came from an authorized dealer so the warranty is vaild from them (via the place you purchased from). I don't know of any shop nowadays that wanted to be an authorized dealer since manufactures wouldn't give any descent discount w/o a Big monthly buy-in. (In Greddy's case), I would need to do $10k/month to get the same discount I have now. If I were to only offer Greddy ONLY, I can see myself worthwhile being an authorized dealer, but if I wanted to offer as many products as possible, it wouldn't make sense to keep up with the monthly buy-in.

So as long as the wholesaler you purchase from is an authorized dealer then the warranty will still apply to the reseller (you), and ultimately the customer? If so I apologize for the bad publicity.

That's correct unless it came from japan (which some of the PFC I have seen that were sold to the US were sold as the grey market and cheap). Manufactures actually tracks the serial number of each unit so they know exactly where it came from and to which wholesale warehouse.
