profec B problem....no boost.

I got my car back together, but when I accelerate around 3000 when the boost comes on you can hear the turbos spool, but it sounds like a police siren....I think it's the waste gate. The only boost I am getting is .4 psi. I tihnk the waste gate is stuck open. I installed the profec B spec 2 along with the BNRs and non-sequential. But once I get arond 3500 when I start to build boost it starts to break up. Anyone have any ideas.

Don't you just love it when a good plan comes together

Charlie (stokedxiv) replying under Dan's name:

i'm at dan's and was in the car with him when we took it for a test ride...

in the car, sitting at a stand-still with no load, the car revs fine, sounds great and very healthy... just maybe a tad rich. however, once you start rolling, and boost starts to build, well... it tries to build. the boost gets to about .3-.5psi at about 2500rpm, and then from then on it just creates a very high-pitched noise, sounds a lot like a police car siren. if you drive gently, the sound isn't as loud, i guess because the boost isn't being built as violently. but no matter what, above 3000rpm there is absolutely no boost and it sounds like we're driving an ambulance.

my guess is that the wastegate is stuck wide open and that the turbos are spooling normal, but it's just that all the air is escaping. when he lets off, the BOV is almost silent, so i know that there isn't any pressure getting to that... like dan said, he also just went Non-Seq with his BNR Stage 3 turbos, and just installed a ProfecB Spec II. we're 99.9% sure that everything is installed and hooked up and wired correctly. but we know there has to be something we're missing. maybe we just have the ProfecB set-up wrong? the PFC is set for about 12psi...

Well I don't have the pre-control actuator anymore...non-sequential.

hey dan

like i said in my pm.....if you still have a problem with the boost controller off, then i suspect it isn't the boost controller that's keeping the wastegate stuck open.

That is, unless you've completely mangled the installation, which is pretty simple so i doubt you did. Keep me updated on what you find out.

I am gonna check the wastegate actuator later on in the day, and see if that is it.
