Procedure when pulling plugs to test Coolant Seal Failure

Hey guys as many of you have probably seen i have a few posts put up in regards to my Cooling System Issues. Well i have replaced my thermostat, refastened all my Cooling Hoses and am now about to pull the plugs and see if any coolant comes out of the housings. What is the proper procedure when they say turn the engine by hand. I have removed both the Trailing Plugs, stuffed them with a thin white cloth and left the Leading plugs in. Do i just simply turn the key and attempt to start it? that should push out Coolant or water onto the cloth to determine if its getting into the engine.

If your coolant seals are going, you smoke white smoke when you start (might not do it when engine is still hot) and your coolant bubbles. Turning it by hand just means put a wrench to one of the main pulleys and manually crank the engine.
