problems installing a walbro 400lph e85 pump

im having issues with trying to fit my walbro pump on the stock hanger.

i tried searching but didnt come up with much. i have the walbro 400lph e85 pump (f90000267) aka walbro 416. i know a few on here fitted the other walbro 400lph pump (f90000262)

i cant seem to get the top of the pump to fit into the feed pipe. the oem denso is held in there with a plastic grommet, an oring, then another plastic thing. the outlet of the oem denso is straight. the threads i found on walbro 255 and the 400lph just has shows pics of the pump already on... i assume the outlet went in the tube with the o-rings without an issue.

the e85 pump seems to have a pretty large outlet port with 2 flared barbs. doing a google search the outlet port on this is larger than the other 2 walbros

has anyone installed one of these using the stock pipe on the hanger. im thinking about cutting the pipe and just connecting the pump and the remaining pipe with a hose. but then im sure i would have to flare or add a ridge or barb at the end for the hose to stay on and not leak.

stock and the walbro 416

outlet ports

how the stock one was in there... yes im aware the top grommet is broken

my walbro will not fit in there with the o-ring or the plastic grommet. the o-ring itself will kind of fit in there but that doesnt seem to seat it or seal it very securely.

cut the metal flange off the pipe for the o-ring and install the proper submersible E-85 compatible hose to bridge the connections with EFI clamps.

yeah thats what i was thinking of doing when i saw that the outlet didnt slip into that pipe that well.

do you know if a hose clamped down on the pipe without a ridge or barb will be ok and not lose pressure and leak?

It *should* be OK, but you may want to see if they have an Earl's EZ-Beader in that size. It can form a bead on pipes, even small pipes, and is super easy to use.

I used one for my custom power steering cooler lines and it worked awesome. Amazon has them in different sizes, about $20-30 for one, well worth it.
