Problems with the clutch

I just took off the panel that lets you look into the tranmission and the clutch fork is broken. I thought these things weren't supposed to brake. Is there a way to replace this with out having to drop the whole tranny? Can you get to it by just taking off the starter? Any help or advice, thanks.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think you have to drop the tranny. I just replaced my clutch, and I don't know you could replace the fork with the tranny on the car.

They shouldn't break. I guess you just shouldn't shift so much.......hahaha.

Yes they do break, yes you do pull the trans for replacement or repair. Turn the radio up and get to it the girls are waiting for you .They want to ride.

My fork broke........... after 221,000 miles on it with a Center Force DF.

I was surprised that it lasted this long.

Ha your probably right duboisr. But the only other question I had was is the FD the only trans that they used this fork on. Or is it the same as on the 2nd gens. Thanks again for the help.

I just finished replacing the clutch on my car this week. I replaced the release fork while I was at it (there didn't appear to be anything wrong with it, I just changed it to be on the safe side) .

There is NO way you're changing it without dropping the tranny, you simply can't get at the bolts you'll need to remove, and you won't be able to remove the fork through either of the service panels.

I got my new fork from Mazdaformance for $78 delivered in a couple days. If you want my old fork I'll clean it up and sell it to you for much less than that.
