Problem with my boost/turbo?
I just imported a 2000 model FD through an agent which I later found out was a stupid move. There seems to be continous problems with my FD. I fixed the brakes, tyres, etc and there still some other stuffs need to be fixed like aircon's evaporator and a leaking exhaust. Damn it!
Now, the problem here is, as I'm new to Rotary, there are lotsa stuffs I'm not sure of and mainly depends on the workshop's mechanic.
The first day I've got it, I felt like I can't boost my turbo. It kept going to 9psi and stops there. I've tried driven like 4500-5000 and still cant boosted it. I've driven R34 before and I found it's all wrong. So, I went to an idiotic workshop and spent $600 on dynoing and got a reply saying that "Rotary's turbo is different. There's nothing wrong with your car." I was like "WTF..." I should have just went to a rotary specialist instead.
Now, the thing is, Is that normal for Rotary's turbo? And I've got a problem with my gearbox. Everything I switched from Gear 1 to 2, it will gives out a creaking sound. I would have to stop in neutral for 0.5 sec before switching it gear 2 so it wont make those noises. I asked the workshop...and they said its a "limiter" for rx7? WTFFF
Now, I've wasted $600 and clueless. HELPPP

Well you sure did get some bad advice. Never ever take an FD to a non-rotary shop. Down in Aus you have plenty of rotary shops; do yourself a favor and travel the extra distance to get to one.
First, 9psi isn't enough boost for a USDM FD, and certainly not enough for an '00 FD. I suggest you look for leaks in your intake couplings. Just remove them one-by-one (start at the crossover pipe and work your way toward the throttle elbow). When you have it off the car, remove any metal covers and inspect thoroughly for little cracks or tears. Also inspect the hoses leading to each BOV for leaks.
Then if that doesn't yield anything we can look for the 'next' major failure point.
The 1-2 shift can be a little clunky, owing to the size of 2nd synchro/gear. But it should not make creaking noises. I suspect your 2nd synchro may be damaged. Unfortunately the solution (other than double-clutching or pausing in neutral) is a tranny rebuild.
