Problem with heater/AC

I just bought an FD which is currently in my uncles possesion 2300 miles from here so I can't say much other then what he's told me. Aparently the heater is only blowing lukewarm and he says the AC doesn't seem to be getting too cold but isn't sure because it's fairly cold there right now.

Before I bought it the car was pretty much just sitting for a couple years and I figure the AC probably just needs a recharge, but I really don't know.

I'm just wondering if you guys know what might be some typical culprits and what may need to be done to fix this.

lol

Ask your uncle to check for heat at the foot vents, heat does not come out of the dash vent by design. As for the AC, if there is some cool air it's likely it's low on charge.

Good luck with you new car.

SO let me get this straight you own an FD that's 2300 miles from you and your trying to troubleshoot it fro m this 2300 mile distance. If it's cold there the AC should be freexing it's a** off. These cars as far as heater goes (and I don't understand it) mine doens't exactly roast you out of the car. While there is a noticable temerature increase it doesn't cook you. My I suggest you and the car getting closer together for more reliable troubleshooting abilities.

To be exact, heat only comes out of the foot vents and the defrost setting (or the setting that combines both). That's the only way to get considerably hot air. It's written in the Owner's Manual.

Plus, this topic has been covered 1001 times already. In fact, E V E R Y S I N G L E winter, like 50 threads about this pop up LOL.

PS: You can take your car to practically any shop and they'll pressure test your A/C system for $50 or less, and let you know if there's a leak.

I haven't figured out what I've done yet, but I get some pretty decent heat out of the dash registers. While it's not roasting, it's very warm.
