Problem free FD?

i've wanted an FD since i was in grade school but the more i research it seems like a risky field. but then again it seems like most of the problems that people run into with their FDs are related to carelessness. is there such thing as a problem free RX7...by that i mean one that may need common maintenance every now and then but can still be used as a reliable daily driver. i plan on picking up a nice 1993 R1 this week and i just wanna know what im gettin myself into because the more i read the more it pushes me away. i dont wanna feel like the car is gonna blow up at any moment.

just do all the reliability mods, ast, radiator, silicone hose job maybe. Get a downpipe and catback, some sort of intake and a boost controller and you shouldnt have any problems if the car has been regulary maintained. You should also get boost and water temp guages. Its a 12 year old car stuff is gonna break like your probably going to have to replace the bushings, fluids, plugs, possibly the clutch. Its all the little stuff.

Problem free,no. but if you buy a low mileage mostly stock fd it can be very realiable.I am on my 2nd low mile fd,the 1st had very little problems, and my current one has none so far and i have put about 6700 miles on it.

I've owned mine for about 3-4 months now and the only major problem i've had was a crapped out gauge cluster ground, alt belt snapped, and changing my plug wires cuz it's a bitch. other then that. i've been cool. oh and A/C but what 12-13 yr old car dosn't hehe. i love mine, i Daily drive it, rain or shine. i think 1 of 2 things kill these cars. but it's MY opinion only; that the engines crap b/c of TOO much care and/or carelessness ( not enough knowledge ). if you want one. buy one. but know that you really need mechanical knowledge. or willing to learn it and understand it. and alot of common sense. they are a simple car to work on. but tedious and will test your patience. good luck with it.

No Major problems yet~~~~~~ I think if you keep it healthy then the reliability is not bad after all....
